Currently, over 7000 species of plants have been recorded to be edible by humans, however, fewer than 20 species now provide 90% of our food. This contrasts with the fact that many of these edible, but not often eaten, species have specific health benefits and activity profiles attributed to them. PPI is keenly aware of this discrepancy and believes that there is great potential in exploring this void. Therefore, PPI has utilized is extensive and unique U.S. based plant library to build highly targeted and edible libraries based on extensive ethnobotanical and chemical composition knowledge.
